Roger Kondrat - Online Communicator: iPhone or Car? You decide..

I think many non pay as you go plans are a rip off. I prefer to buy a phone unlocked and then get a good pay as go deal which includes a hefty data plan (they do exist in most places). Plus, if your phone has wifi capabilities, and like me you are never too far from wifi, then you don't end up using the telco's network enough to justify big payments every month...

Thats a valid idea Jamie, however it is very UK centric and I can't wait to
come back and get access to those very plans. Over in Canada my Nokia E61i
is still one of the top phones available so upgrading is waseful and
expensive for me without much additional benefit. In the UK I would be
runnning around drooling over the wonderful plans and cheap smartphones. I
    miss it!

But, you have to offset the monthly cost of the iPhone with the cost of a normal cellular plan, no? Which should account for at *least* half the monthly cost, so maybe an additional $600-$700 a year?

If you don't need a car...or the phone...why not save the money? :D
